Three ring binder hole formatting
Designing a page for a ring binder or a three hole punched paper (using the North American standard) isn't a completely exact science. This template will work for the vast majority of graphic designers who wish to allow space in their layouts for the traditional three holes used by a D-ring or ring binder.
The practical reality is that size standards for punched paper pages vary somewhat. The diameter of the holes varies by the size of the punch used, with 5/16" as common but not universal. The distance between the center of the holes and the edge of the 8.5" x 11" page varies as well. Our template uses .5" as the standard.
