Welcome to Perfect Greeking!

Here's the place to get a dollop of Perfect Greeking, the filler text that fits English better because it was designed with the same letter frequency and word length in an average block of English text. For lovers of the classics, our traditional Lorem Ipsum generator is also below.

Directions:  to generate a block of Perfect Greek, enter the number of characters you'd like in the Characters box and press Go. Highlight the text, then copy and paste it into your document. For help, see below.

If it's dummy text you want, check out these other options just for fun:

  • For filler that uses actual English, check our random word page. It's handy, and it's a hoot.
  • Concepters will like the Word Machine, a random word generator that can be controlled by part of speech. Try it to stimulate ideas.

Need to replace the rama-rama with real copy that sings and sells? Contact Jeff Watter, creator of this site and a freelance copywriter in Milwaukee Wisconsin USA. There's plenty of info about jeff at www.watter.com.

How to copy and paste text from a web site

Here's how to take text from the generators above, or from any HTML document. This technique also works well with many Acrobat PDF documents.

1. Highlight the Text

Highlight using your computer's mouse cursor. Place the cursor (the thing that looks like a capital letter I when you hold it over a block of words) in front of the first letter of text you'd like to select. Highlighting is another word for selecting. Once your cursor is in place, hold down the button on the left hand side of your mouse and drag the cursor to the last word of the text you'd like to copy. This should give all the text in the paragraph a blue background, as if you highlighted it with a blue highlighter marker.

2. Copy the Text

Copying text begins by holding down the "Ctrl" key on your computer's keyboard, and keeping it pressed while also pressing the "c" key. This tells your computer to copy the highlighted content to a special area of your computer called the clipboard. It's there in the computer's memory for the next step:

3. Paste the Text

To paste, go to the computer program you wish to add text to. We'll use Microsoft Word as a simple example. Open up a new document in Word. See the blinking cursor on the page? Put your mouse cursor in the same spot, then click the button on the left side of your mouse. A little dialog box will appear, with an option to Paste. Choose the Paste option by highlighting it in the menu, and voila! The block of Perfect Greek text appears in your document!
